11 Beauty Hacks for Busy Mums

Posted by Kaylyn Taylor on

So you’re in the middle of a makeup tutorial... And your toddler bumps into your arm, sending your mascara straight into your eyeball.

Sound familiar?

We’ve put together some time-saving beauty hacks for busy Mums to help you maintain a beauty regime, and your sanity.

1. Tinted moisturiser with SPF

Don’t have the time to lay peacefully under the sun each day without hearing, “Mum? Muuuum!!! Mum!!!?” – No problem. Choose moisturisers that are tinted with added sun protection. Choosing a three-in-one moisturiser saves time, helps you stay protected and maintain a year round glow.

2. Lash extensions

Did you know the average woman spends 55 minutes on a makeup and hair routine? Let’s take a moment and laugh together. Eyelash extensions are a great way to ditch a daily mascara routine and opt for some fabulous falsies. False eyelashes last anywhere from six to eight weeks on average, depending on your natural lash growth.

3. Brow and lash tint

Enhance your natural brows and lashes with cosmetic tinting. Brow and lash tints last three to four weeks on average. This kind of cosmetic tinting can be used to enhance your natural features or used in replacement of a daily brow and lash routine, depending on your personal preference.

4. Frozen spoons and bright eye makeup

You may have been up all night with your newborn, but you’d prefer not to look it. Apply frozen spoons underneath your eyes to get rid of under eye bags. To brighten up your eyes, add a white eyeliner pencil to your eye makeup regime, and apply a light concealer in a cool shade to dark under eye circles.

5. Dry shampoo to cover regrowth

Ever look in the mirror at your roots and immediately cry out, cursing your genetics? Dry shampoo can’t dry your tears, but it can fix your hair. Dry shampoo comes in different tints or hair colours that can cover greys when they start to peak out.

6. Chip-proof manicure

Choose chip-proof oil based nail polishes to help your manicure last longer. Opting for oil based polished instead of gels is healthier for your nails and will help with growth.

7. Online shopping

The easiest way to save time is to shop online. Australians spend a whopping 21.3 billion shopping online, with fashion continuing to top online purchases. Busy Mums can appreciate the value of purchasing a beautiful outfit online without the hassle of browsing in-store. Even if your toddler is screaming relentlessly in the background, at least it is in the privacy and comfort of your own home. P.S. Frocks offers a wide range of Maxi Dresses and accessories, perfect for busy Mums that value style and comfort.

8. Bedtime beach waves

Mornings can be crazy for the busy Mum. Opt to shower at night instead of the morning and go to bed with wet hair in a sock bun. Take it out in the morning to reveal natural waves. Throw a few curls in it with a curling iron and brush the curls out to create effortless beach waves.

9. Teeth whitening strips

Save time by applying teeth whitening strips to sport while completing household tasks like laundry or dishes. Or just let your husband know he needs to do the tasks because you have an important appointment with the dentist. Then go do whatever you want as your teeth whiten.

10. Consumption tracking water bottle

Staying hydrated throughout your day should be the most important component of your skin regime. Invest in a large water bottle that tracks how much you’re drinking each day to help you keep track. Busy Mums burn a lot of energy each day which can cause dehydration and fatigue. Aim to consume 96oz of water per day.

11. Declutter your makeup and hair products

It’s easy to wind up with a collection of makeup and hair products you never actually use on a daily basis. Like that blue glitter eyeshadow you still have from the ‘old days.’ Indulge in a declutter sesh to chuck the old and only keep what you use daily in sight to save time.

It can be easy to get swept up in the needs of your little ones and forget about the importance of self-care. Show yourself some love with our beauty hacks that’ll save you time and have you feeling fabulous.
