You may have noticed a new face on our P.S. Frocks website. That would be the face of the beautiful Brooke Falvey rocking the latest summer frock looks.

Brooke is a successful Fashion Editor, Columnist, Instagram Influencer, and Blogger to boot. She passionately shares in our mutual love for promoting body confidence and self-love.

Get to know Brooke

Q: When you’re not advocating for positive body image and writing for top magazines, what do you like to do for fun?

A: I love to get out in the sunshine if I can, I think I’m solar powered because it always seems to give me an extra boost of energy. If I have a day off, I’ll try to get to the beach, but if that fails, I’ll hang out by the pool. I also like to tick things off my bucket list – I’ve done trapeze lessons, stripped nude and covered myself in glitter for a shoot (check out Positively Glittered on Instagram) and visited a health retreat. Last year I set myself a challenge to read 52 books in the year. I think I finished up somewhere in the 40s, but it was a great way for me to switch off and relax.

Q: When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I wanted to be everything — a vet, a lawyer, a teacher, a weather girl. After finishing school, I toyed with the idea of studying law for a while. I was a court reporter for a local newspaper and I was really interested in becoming a Prosecutor. But in the end, I decided to stick with journalism and I’m so glad I did.

Q: Was there a turning point in your life that led into a career of fashion and travel blogging?

A: There wasn't a turning point as such, but just before I moved home from London in 2009, I received a card from my mum featuring a reverse bucket list—instead of it being all the things I wanted to do, it was all the things I had done over the 455 days I’d been away - and it was jam packed full of things. I had actively tried to make the most out of each day (and meal!). Three years later, I decided it was time to put my years as a journalist to use and re-discover my adventurous side (and get off the couch) so I launched my blog, kicking things off with my bucket list. Over the years, my blog grew and then I launched an Instagram account so my friends could see what I was wearing each day, and the rest is history.

Q: How do you balance professional writing, social media and modelling?

A: I don't know that I balance it very well; I think of everything as a great opportunity to meet new people and try new things, so I try not to say no to too many things, but that means I also need to give myself a little time out to rest and reset (my goal for 2020). This year I've bought myself a wall calendar and a diary to try and keep track of what's happening when.

What motivates you to get out of bed every morning and do what you do?

I am lucky to be able to do jobs that I love — telling stories; working alongside great women (and men); hitting the shops to find the latest fashions and playing dress ups — that makes it pretty easy to get up in the mornings (unless I’ve been at a fun event the night before, then I like to sleep in!)

Q: You’re an outspoken advocate for body confidence and loving your imperfections. How did you overcome your own struggles with body image? What is the best piece of advice you can give women of all ages for cultivating more body confidence and self-love?

A: I wouldn't say I've overcome it completely - I think loving ourselves will always be a work-in-progress for most women, myself included. But it's about making a conscious effort not to let the negative drown out the positives. And I try to focus on those positives — legs that have cycled around Central Park in New York and climbed the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Arms that have held new babies, hugged grieving friends and done the sprinkler on a dancefloor. Lumps and bumps I may not love, but they came from meals shared with friends and family. And whenever I go to the beach, I remind myself that most people are too busy worrying about themselves to pay any attention to what I do or don't look like in my swimmers, so please PLEASE get in your togs and go to the beach, or to the pool and enjoy the glorious feeling of being in the water this summer.

Q: We know you love cocktails (we do too!), what is your absolute favourite cocktail recipe?

A: I do! I am a huge cocktail enthusiast, especially if they're fruity and make me feel like I'm on a tropical island. Passionfruit mojitos are my go-to drink when I'm out, but this summer I've taken to making Moscow Mules - all you need is vodka, ginger beer and lime. They're easy and refreshing — like a quick dip in the pool after work!
